The Tamiya Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Model 52 1/32 Aircraft is a stunningly detailed scale model that brings one of WWII’s most iconic Japanese fighters to life. At 1/32 scale, the finished model measures 285 mm in length with a wingspan of 344 mm, faithfully depicting the A6M5 Model 52 “Zero” as it appeared in the latter stages of the war.

The kit features beautifully reproduced body lines from the curved engine cowl through the wings, a highly detailed cockpit, and an accurate representation of the Nakajima “Sakae” 21 engine. Movable rudder, flaps, and lower-fuselage parts add realism, while the engine cowling and canopy can be built open or closed according to your preference.

Metal parts are included for the 20 mm cannon barrels and pitot tube, and photo-etched components provide fine detail for the air-intake mesh and seat belts. The decal sheet offers four marking options, including a new design, and masking seals are provided for precise canopy painting.

This kit delivers both an engaging build and a spectacular display piece for enthusiasts of historic aircraft.

Trivia:

The A6M5 Zero Model 52 was an upgraded version of Japan’s legendary fighter, enhancing firepower and armor while retaining the agility that made it so formidable early in the war. Its lightweight construction and long range made it a dominant force in aerial combat, though its minimal armor became a liability as Allied aircraft improved.

While originally designed for dogfighting, later in the war this variant was increasingly used in defensive roles, including kamikaze missions, reflecting the changing strategies of the Pacific air war.
