Trivia:

● Tomooka Used Bookstore
A second-hand bookstore with an eclectic selection that seems to have a little of everything. The shop was originally a music store called “Sharp,” run by owner Susumu Tomooka’s (52) father, a devoted music lover. The name was dropped around 1970, and when Susumu took over at 45, he gradually shifted the inventory to the used books he personally enjoyed—eventually transforming it into the bookstore it is today. A small corner of sheet music remains, now a favorite stop for members of the local brass band.

● Akagi Electric
This electrical shop was inherited by Tae Yamada after the landlord, Goro Yamada, left it to her. Business has slowed significantly—customer numbers have dropped by half—and most of their income now comes from parking fees. The land occupied by the beef bowl restaurant and the adjacent parking lot all belongs to the Yamada family. Their top-selling items today are light bulbs, toilet seats, and installation services.
